  • Quicktime Editing

    1
Download QuickTime Player. Install and agree to its licensing terms. Open QuickTime.
  • 2
Open your video file by clicking "File" at the top of the QuickTime toolbar.
Select "Open File..." and find your movie in the finder window. Click "Open."
  • 3
Drag the two half-arrow cursors on the timeline to your "in" and "out" points on the timeline to section off the desired part of the video. You may also place your cursor on the timeline and hit "i" or "o" on your keyboard for the "in" and "out" marks.
For example, if you need only one section of your video, place your "in" and "out" marks in their appropriate places. Click "Edit" and "Trim to Selection" on the QuickTime toolbar. This will delete the sections of video outside of your "in" and "out" marks.

Click "File" and "Save As" to rename your edited movie while retaining your old movie file.
