Evaluation

Within this final major project I feel like I have pushed myself to my limits and from doing so I have learnt a lot of valuable lessons I can take forward on leaving the course. Furthermore I have been given a lot of opportunities and feel I have taken those opportunities and have been extremely valuable.

The first brief (cubed) was designed to get me working more in After Effects alongside branding and learning more about moving image. I found this one of my favourite briefs as I love fashion and branding a fashion label is what I like doing. However I then also got to do a photo shoot, and video for the animation, so I believe it showcases a range of different ideas/ subjects I want to go into.

Brief two was the fashion yearbook, this was a lot more stressful than I thought it would be, from this I have decided that I definitely do not want to be a tutor. The graphics team worked well together in the situation we were put in to create this publication for the deadline. I also am happy with the overall design of the book, although it is quite simple it works and still has kept the cutting theme Gemma really wanted in the fashion yearbooks.

Brief three was a combination of 4 branding projects all of which I enjoyed doing and were all very different. The fine artist brief had to be another favourite as working with the fine artist went smoothly and overall the client was happy with the designs I also liked. I would quite like to develop this further outside of university for the fine artist, as there is so much more which could be done.

Brief four my design context brief is my biggest disappointment in that I sent off for the publication to be printed and its come back really poor quality! Due to the time restraints I had I couldn’t re-print it. However this book shows the work of companies of who inspire me and the style of work I would love to create in the future.

Brief five, Echowire took a bit of a back seat when I won the end of year show brief, as this was more important. However I do think the design I have made for EchoWire work and they are really happy with them and asked me to work freelance for them over summer, which is amazing! So win win.

Brief six, the most tiring, stressful, amazing, suprising, challenging, and worthwhile brief I have done. Although the first final print of the invites were really disappointing I have learnt so much from this brief. Also working on tight deadlines such as getting an email an hour before they want a new design. It also has sorted my issue with time management, I feel like I have achieved what I wanted to for my fmp along with this and the prospectus pitch. Overall it has been very stressful and pushed me to my absolute limits but I would do it all over again.

Brief seven the prospectus was a pretty quick turn around and then created a pitch to management. Pitching to management was a really valuable experience to feel how a professional pitch functions and also gave me confidence in what I do and also pitching and speaking without a horrible accent with “like..” and “ermm”.

Overall I am really happy with my year this year, I have learnt an incredible amount and have been involved in many opportunities of which I am grateful to have been given. I am now confident in the way I work and communicating with clients/printers etc. to get the job done to a high standard, and I can only progress from here.

Final Crit

The feedback from the crit was helpful in that it highlighted what I still had to do to finish my FMP. From the crit i wrote a list of things of which needed to be done and when they were going to be done.

Overall the crit was very helpful to see my work layed out and finalise things and work out what still had to be done. It was also really good to see what everyone else had been up to too.

Folly Designs..

The final folly designs:

The boy and girl posters will be on opposing sides with the workshops facing over the leeds uni and the other down the hill.

I am happy with the designs and how the workshop board has come out as it was quite a text heavy but it works, and links the boy and girl boards together.

Facebook Cover photos..To promote the event, I am creating a web button and cover photo to advertise when the show is. I am not sure wether we should use both or just use the girl or boy, but we will see how it goes.

More Folly Development..

I want to include all the imagery onto the folly of which has been used within the designs for the end of year show - revealed. It also has to include the workshops board, and all need to link visually.

The art taster workshops has a lot of text for the board of which needs to be easily read on passing the college. Therefore I decided to keep the background a colour so your not distracted and decided to link it to the grey workshop panel at the back with the colour lines to link it to the people too.
 No definitely not!

Teaser PDF to send out..

This PDF will be embeded into the email out to the mailing list.
It is very text heavy so it was difficult to fit this into such a small design, along with all the photographs marketing also wanted to be included but I quite like the last design at the bottom.

I think this has got to be my favourite it is the same layout as the back of the double sided posters however I think it looks good. Also the type fits nicely in the justified alignment.

Web Butttons:

Web Button for the college's Webpage
I actually quite like this, I wanted to make a gif to fit all the information needed on it.

Creative Review web banner:

This also needed the same information plus the webpage, I think it works.

Testers sent to print..

Everything was checked multiple times over and all text was read through fully so that is all correct.
Lets hope everything goes to plan at the printers tonight! And get the tests back tomorrow!

A1 Posters: Private Invites: A2 Posters: Postcards:
Wetherby Races Article..

Following the same theme/ design as the posters I created this quick turn around for the Wetherby Races magazine..

Finalised Fashion Yearbook

Tint VS Original

After testing greys and whites behind the text I decided to try the pink of the background, which worked nicely to even out the tones behind the type.

However I prefer without the  tint, although I can see what they mean about the central letters stand out more than the others.

Intial PDF given to marketing for A2 Posters..

Adjustment to A1 -

On close to the finishing point, it was brought up that not enough of the guy on the A1 poster was on show.

I do think this looks a lot better with more of the person on show, and also shows more of the personality of the character behind it.
Invitation Development

For the invitation I wanted to perforate the front of the invitation for the recipients to open and 'reveal' the information.

To do this I measured out the width of the opening and the lengths of the perforations.

I also wanted to include the image on the inside of the reveal as to carry on the theme.
